Performance Learning & Choreography

Our Performance Learning & Choreography Program is designed to provide students with a performance experience that engages creative expression to develop knowledge and execution of technical dance skills while learning to perform in groups with intent to communicate to an audience.

This program provides students with historical and cultural relevance that demonstrates an understanding of cultural communication through dance, historical figures, and artistic diversity.

Performance Learning uses dance as an interdisciplinary approach to academic learning supported by the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) five basic strands including:

  1. Foundations: Perceptions

  2. Creative Expression: Artistic Process

  3. Creative Expression: Performance

  4. Historical and Cultural Relevance

  5. Critical Evaluation: Response
