DANCE & CULTURE SPRING BREAK CAMP
Dance & Culture Spring Break Camp is a three (3) day, out-of-school time (OST) program that uses dance, reading, and creative writing as an interdisciplinary approach to the study of African customs, traditions, and contributions to world culture. The mission of this camp is to provide children ages 8 -12 with a creative learning experience that promotes self-identify, self-awareness, and cultural awareness through the art of dance.
Dance & Culture Spring Break Camp Curriculum
The curriculum is designed to provide students with dance skill development, literacy skill development, and social-emotional learning development.
Dance Skill Development: Students will receive technical dance training in African, Ballet, Modern, Jazz, & Hip Hop.
Literacy Skill Development: Students will participate in reading & writing activities to develop comprehension & expression. Students will demonstrate reading comprehension through creation of dance narratives.
Social-Emotional Learning: Students will participate in group activities that support self-awareness, self-management, social-awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
